Hello! My name is Rebecca Bachar. I Teach and perform with and for children, the underprivileged, handicapped and elderly the Classics, the Arts; Poetry, Classical Isadora Dance and more,

I have trained, taught and performed internationally in Greece, Albania, India, Canada, and the US in New York, Chicago and Iowa.

I was born in Hammond Indiana on March 11, 1963

I started dancing at age 3 in Modern Dance. I began training in Classical Ballet at age 5, studying at the famed Milwaukee School of Ballet in her teens. I also studied Jazz, figure skating and gymnastics, and later Yoga, African, Middle Eastern and Country Line Dancing. My primary focus was Ballet. After learning basic physiology and more advanced body mechanics through intensive training and years of practice in Yoga, and exercise modalities such as Aerobics, and weight training, I quit ballet to avoid its harmful effects on the body.

I began work and training in the Isadora Duncan Dance tradition in 1994, at age 30, under the tutelage of Jeanne Bresciani, Artistic Director of the Isadora Duncan International Institute, Inc. (IDII) New York, New York.

After 4 years, 2 years of workshops and intensives and the 2 year IDII Certificate Program, I graduated in July, 1999 with a Certificate in Isadora Duncan Studies & Isadora For Children.

"In Isadora, you dont have to color within the lines, you dont have to stay within someone elses parameter.

To say there is room for self expression is an understatement

Self expression is supported and encouraged, and brought to a full, and refined, artistic level. Its the basis of the technique."

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO DISTORT THE BODY IN UNNATURAL POSITIONS OR MOVEMENTS AS IN BALLET. THERE IS NOTHING MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE HUMAN BODY AS IS, NOTHING MORE BEAUTIFUL AND INSPIRING THAN THIS, AS EVIDENCED BY MOST ANCIENT CULTURES SUCH AS THE GREEKS, THINK OF THE ALL THE GREEK STATUES, AND THE VENUS DE MILO

Nature always has been, and must be the great source of all art.

To seek in nature the fairest forms and to find the movement which expresses the soul of these forms, this is the art of the dancer.

About Class Technique and use of mirrors

"Ballet and todays modern dance have the illusion that mirrors help, but mirrors usually inhibit most dancers in many ways, most importantly mirrors ignore and insult the the self, the inner being, heart and soul of the dancer,

Mirrors detract from the powerful essence of energy found within, the discovery of abilities and potential, of sensing and feeling the True Dance" Rebecca Bachar
